Zain Ul Abiden

Automation & AI Solutions Engineer

I build automation and AI that make businesses run smarter.

For seven years I've been the person a top-10 accounting firm calls when a manual process needs to disappear, owning a production portfolio that processes tens of thousands of client documents a year. Now I'm pointing that same instinct at AI.

Selected work

Two systems I built and shipped for real clients. Both are under NDA, so what you see below uses fictional company names, people, and figures, recreated to match the real product screen for screen.

In production

A multi-tenant ERP, built from the ledger up

Running live for a mid-size import and trading business

This client was running the full cycle of buying and selling physical goods, purchase orders, multi-currency imports, multi-warehouse inventory, invoicing, out of spreadsheets and disconnected tools that never tied back to a real set of books.

I built the replacement as an actual double-entry accounting system underneath. Purchase orders in USD post correctly onto a single-currency ledger, landed costs split automatically across a shipment's line items, and every report reads live from the general ledger instead of being hand-maintained.

15+

financial reports generated live from the ledger

100%

of transactions posted automatically, double-entry

0

shared tables between tenants, fully isolated databases

Real double-entry accounting

Every transaction posts to a general ledger automatically, not just to a screen.

Multi-currency, single ledger

USD purchase orders convert cleanly onto books that stay in one currency.

Permission-gated, everywhere

Every route checks a real permission key, nothing is hardcoded to "admins only."

Built with NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Prisma, JWT + API keys.

At-a-glance KPIs, AR aging, and a queue of what needs dispatching, receiving, or approving today.
One of fifteen-plus financial and operational reports, all generated live from posted ledger entries.
Multi-warehouse stock and weighted-average cost valuation, updated on every purchase receipt.
Full invoice lifecycle, draft through overdue, with running AR balances.

In production

Real-time sales tracking for a floor that never stops moving

Running live for a phone-based dealer sales operation

This client runs a call-center-style sales floor: an agent gets a verbal yes and hands it to a closer, who finalizes the paperwork. The old process leaned on spreadsheets and group chats, so handoffs got lost and nobody had a real-time view of the day.

I built the platform around that exact handoff. Agents log a sale the moment they get the yes, closers work a live queue, and a commission engine tracks each sale through carrier activation and a chargeback window before it counts as confirmed, payable revenue.

roles live in one pipeline: agent, closer, admin

1

commission engine tracking activation through chargeback

Agent to closer handoff

A live pending queue with urgent flags and handoff notes, nothing sits silently.

Commission lifecycle tracking

The payable rate snapshots at activation, so later rate changes don't rewrite history.

Zero-login leaderboard

A public leaderboard built to run unattended on an office TV, all day.

Built with Next.js, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Recharts.

Agents log a sale in one tap and hand it straight to a closer, with live personal stats and streaks.
Closers work a real-time queue of incoming sales, finalize or reject with a note, and never lose a follow-up.
Full floor oversight in one view, live activity, per-rep performance, and the commission engine underneath it.
A zero-login leaderboard built to run all day on an office TV, keeping the floor's standings visible at a glance.

Kitchrix, a recipe app I built and shipped on my own

Kitchrix is a South Asian recipe app built around what's actually in your kitchen. It keeps a running pantry, matches recipes against it with a rules-based ranker, and uses an on-device AI architecture to generate new ones from a canonical ingredient vocabulary rather than a generic recipe database.

Built solo, end to end, with Expo, React Native, and TypeScript.

A little more personal

About me

I grew up in Pakistan and moved to the US in 2015, when I was 20. My bachelor's degree is actually in Film, which has nothing to do with what I do now on paper, but it taught me to think about how something gets put together piece by piece, and that turns out to matter a lot in automation too. I went back for a Master's in Information Systems once I knew this was the direction I wanted to take.

How to use AI tools the smart way

Everything I've learned about branding yourself with AI, running projects inside AI tools without burning tokens re-explaining context, and using Claude Code without being intimidated by it. Free, right now.
